Our Community. Our Languages. Our Responsibility.

LingoLocal is built to help people preserve and exchange local language.

Our community includes language speakers, learners, contributors, educators, researchers, communities and people interested in discovering and preserving local languages.

The quality of LingoLocal depends on the quality and respect of the contributions made by our community.

These Community Guidelines explain how we expect users to participate and contribute to LingoLocal.

Please:

  • Respect native speakers.

  • Respect elders and language custodians.

  • Respect different dialects.

  • Respect cultural traditions.

  • Avoid misrepresenting cultural practices.

  • Avoid claiming ownership over a community’s language or culture.

Language diversity should be treated as something valuable.

You may disagree with another contributor.

However, disagreements must remain respectful.

Do not:

  • Insult other users.

  • Harass people.

  • Threaten anyone.

  • Bully contributors.

  • Encourage violence.

  • Attack people because of their identity or background.

  • Deliberately humiliate another user.

  • Repeatedly target a specific contributor.

Discuss the information, not the person.

If you believe particular information should not be publicly available, please contact us.

LingoLocal may restrict or remove content when there are legitimate cultural, privacy, legal or safety concerns.

Educational, historical and linguistic discussions are welcome.

However, context matters.

Content discussing:

  • Historical conflicts

  • Cultural practices

contact@lingolocal.in

When reporting content, please provide enough information for us to locate and review it.

22. Appeals and Corrections

If your contribution has been removed or restricted and you believe this was done incorrectly, you may contact us.

Please explain:

  • What content was affected.

  • Why you believe it complies with our guidelines.

  • Any relevant linguistic or cultural context.

  • Any supporting information.

We may review the decision and restore, modify or continue restricting the content where appropriate.

23. Accuracy Does Not Always Mean Agreement

Local languages can have legitimate variations.

Two contributors may provide different:

  • Spellings

  • Pronunciations

  • Meanings

  • Translations

  • Dialect forms

This does not necessarily mean one contribution is fraudulent.

Where appropriate, LingoLocal may identify regional or dialect variations rather than removing one simply because another version is more common.

24. Protecting Language Diversity

LingoLocal does not seek to replace local communities as authorities over their own languages.

Our goal is to provide technology that helps communities:

  • Document language knowledge.

  • Share language resources.

  • Teach learners.

  • Preserve pronunciation.

  • Discover dialect variations.

  • Exchange knowledge between speakers and learners.

We encourage native speakers and knowledgeable community members to participate actively in improving the quality of the platform.

25. No Guarantee of Complete Accuracy

Because LingoLocal may contain community-generated, automatically generated and editorially reviewed information, we cannot guarantee that every contribution is completely accurate.

Language can be complex and context-dependent.

Users should verify important information with trusted native speakers, language experts or other reliable sources when necessary.

LingoLocal should not be relied upon as the sole source for legal, medical, emergency, financial or other high-risk communication.

26. Changes to Community Guidelines

We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time as LingoLocal develops.

When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.

Continued use of LingoLocal after updated guidelines become effective means that you agree to follow the updated guidelines, subject to applicable law.

27. Enforcement

Violations may result in actions including:

Minor violations

  • Temporary contribution restrictions

  • Loss of contribution privileges

  • Removal of rewards or points associated with prohibited activity

  • Account suspension

  • Account termination

  • Permanent restriction

  • Reporting to appropriate authorities where legally required or reasonably necessary

The action taken will depend on the seriousness and circumstances of the violation.

Do not rely on LingoLocal for emergency communication, medical emergencies, public safety situations or other urgent matters.

Contact the appropriate local emergency services or qualified professionals when necessary.
