At LingoLocal, we respect your right to control your personal information.

If you no longer wish to use your LingoLocal account, you can request deletion of your account and associated personal information.

1. How to Delete Your Account

You can request deletion of your LingoLocal account using either of the following methods.

Option 1 — From the LingoLocal App

If the account deletion feature is available in your version of the LingoLocal app:

Open LingoLocal → Profile / Settings → Account → Delete Account

Follow the instructions shown on the screen to confirm your request.

You may be required to authenticate your account before the deletion request can be completed.

Option 2 — Request Deletion by Email

If you cannot access the account or cannot find the deletion option in the app, you can request account deletion by contacting us.

Please send your request from the email address associated with your LingoLocal account whenever possible.

Suggested subject:

Account Deletion Request – LingoLocal

To help us process your request, please include:

Your registered email address
Your LingoLocal username/display name, if applicable
A statement requesting deletion of your LingoLocal account

For security purposes, we may ask you to verify ownership of the account before completing the deletion request.

2. What Happens When You Delete Your Account?

After your account deletion request is verified and processed:

Personal Account Information

We will delete or anonymize personal information associated with your account where reasonably possible and subject to applicable legal requirements.

This may include:

Name or display name
Email address
Account profile information
Login/account information
Personal preferences
Other personal information associated with your account

User Contributions

LingoLocal is a community-driven language preservation platform.

If you have contributed:

Words
Phrases
Translations
Sentences
Stories
Proverbs
Idioms
Pronunciation recordings
Other language content

some contributions may have already been incorporated into LingoLocal’s language database or made publicly available.

Where appropriate and technically possible, we may:

Remove personal identifiers associated with your contributions;
Delete contributions that are directly associated with your account; or
Retain certain language contributions in an anonymized or non-personally-identifiable form.

Deleting your account does not necessarily mean that every community language contribution will immediately disappear from the LingoLocal database.

This is necessary to protect the continuity and preservation of community language resources.

3. Public Contributions

If you voluntarily submitted content for public display, that content may have been viewed, copied, referenced or incorporated into other parts of the LingoLocal Services before your deletion request.

We will take reasonable steps to remove or anonymize personal information associated with your account where applicable.

However, information that has already been independently copied, cached or shared by third parties may not be within our control.

Please do not submit confidential or sensitive personal information as part of a public language contribution.

4. Subscription Cancellation

Deleting your LingoLocal account does not necessarily cancel an active subscription.

If you purchased a subscription through:

Google Play
Apple App Store
Another payment provider

you should cancel the subscription through the same platform or account used to purchase it.

For example:

Android:
Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → LingoLocal → Cancel

iPhone/iPad:
Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions → LingoLocal → Cancel Subscription

Your subscription may continue until the end of the applicable paid billing period depending on the platform’s policies.

5. Rewards and Points

If your account participates in the LingoLocal contribution or rewards program, deleting your account may result in:

Loss of unused points;
Loss of eligibility for future rewards;
Cancellation of pending reward requests;
Removal or anonymization of reward-related account information.

Where a reward or payment has already been processed, certain transaction information may need to be retained for accounting, legal, fraud-prevention or regulatory purposes.

6. Information We May Retain

Although we aim to delete or anonymize personal information associated with your account, certain information may need to be retained where reasonably necessary for:

Legal compliance
Tax and accounting requirements
Fraud prevention
Security
Dispute resolution
Enforcement of agreements
Protection of our rights
Maintaining anonymized or aggregated statistics
Maintaining the integrity of the LingoLocal language database

Any retained information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

7. Deletion Processing Time

We aim to process verified account deletion requests within a reasonable period.

Some deletion processes may take additional time because information may be stored across different systems, backups or third-party service providers.

Where information must be retained for legal or legitimate operational purposes, it may be retained for the applicable retention period before being securely deleted or anonymized.

8. Account Deletion Is Permanent

Account deletion is generally permanent.

Once your account has been deleted, you may not be able to recover:

Your profile
Account history
Saved preferences
Contribution history
Points
Rewards
Other account-associated information

If you may want to use LingoLocal again in the future, please consider carefully before submitting a deletion request.

9. We May Need to Verify Your Identity

To protect users against unauthorized account deletion requests, we may need to verify that the person requesting deletion is the account owner.

We may request reasonable information for verification.

We will not ask you to provide your password by email.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I delete my account from the app?

Yes. If the account deletion option is available in your version of the LingoLocal app, go to:

Profile / Settings → Account → Delete Account

What if I cannot log in?

You can contact us using the account deletion email address above. We may ask you to verify ownership of the account before processing the request.

Will my language contributions be deleted?

Not necessarily.

Because LingoLocal is designed to preserve and exchange local language knowledge, certain language contributions may be retained in an anonymized or non-personally-identifiable form.

Will deleting my account cancel my subscription?

Not necessarily.

You should separately cancel subscriptions through the platform where you purchased them.

Will my points be transferred to another account?

No. Unless specifically stated otherwise in the applicable rewards program, points and rewards are associated with the original account and may be lost when the account is deleted.

Can I recover my account after deletion?

Generally, no. Account deletion is intended to be permanent.
